JK824 PVC Screen Slotting Machine
The JK824 is our largest slotting machine developed from years of research and experience in the manufacturing of PVC slotting machines. The JK824 was designed with a combination of all the innovative ideas we have developed, resulting in a machine proven to be the most versatile, highly productive, and simple to setup and operate. If your company is serious about producing high quality large
diameter PVC well screens,
MACHINE DIMENSIONS
The main frame and slotting assembly is constructed of
4" x 4" square steel tube. Floor space needed for this machine to operate: 10' wide, 28' long, 9'high.
Slotting Motors The machine is equipped with two 10 HP 3500 RPM 3 phase motors used to drive slotter shafts. 15 hp motors are optional if the majority of your slotting is 16" and larger. The slotter shaft is mounted to the motor plate by two bearings and connected to the driven pulley by a three jaw drive coupling shown in above photo. This shaft system makes changing slot size a very simple and fast operation, simply by removing four bearing bolts and replacing saw shaft assembly. The 3" timing belt drive has proven to be a positive means of driving slotter shaft and has also increased bearing life.

Slotting Saw Shafts The slotter shaft is designed to hold a maximum of 11" of saws per motor, saw sizes 4", 5", 6". This enables the machine to make a 22" long segment of slots every 5 to 10 seconds. Our tests have shown us that the JK824 will slot a 20' length of 16" well casing in approximately 20 minutes with the following specifications: 10 rows of .085" slots, 4" long, spaced 1/2" apart in a uniform and consistent manner.

Pipe Indexer The pipe is rotated or indexed by a 1 3/4 HP air motor gear drive system capable of over 1500 inch lbs of torque. The indexing row stop is controlled by a proximity switch that senses pins on the indexer plate directly mounted on the 1 1/4" indexer shaft. The indexer can be set for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 14 rows of slots. Another efficiency feature is the air operated inside pipe holder. The pipe holders will clamp either plain end or bell end. This unit is equipped with a safety switch not allowing start, if the inside pipe holder is not engaged.
Center Pipe Support Because slotter shafts and indexer shaft maintain the same center line 49" from the floor, the lower pipe support must be raised and lowered to accommodate the different pipe diameters of 8" through 24". This is achieved by the adjustable center pipe support mounted in the middle of the main frame rail. The pipe support is raised and lowered by three vertical jacks connected together. Pipe to be slotted is very easily moved up to ID pipe holder on indexer by series of nylon roller mounted on top of support.
Air Gear Motor for Manual Travel of Slotting Assembly When the machine is operating in automatic mode, the slotting assembly will slot, then index the pipe and travel in the direction towards the indexer end of main frame. At completion of screen the machine will automatically stop. Slotting assembly must then be returned to opposite end of main frame for the next screen. This operation is done with the air gear motor manual travel system. Switching for this system is located on control panel and can be operated in both directions. Automatic stops located on both ends of machine.
Exhaust and Dust Collection Machine is equipped with a 5 HP 3 phase direct drive dust collection blower. Vacuum hoses are directly mounted to special built fixture surrounding saws on slotter shafts. The fixtures are designed to retract as saws penetrate pipe allowing a high volume of air to move over saws for cooling and dust extraction. Dust can then be blown through hose or duct into a collection hopper supplied by customer.
Air System Automated mechanical movements are done by air cylinders, air motor, and air brakes. This method of automation has proven to be dependable and low maintenance. Air supply to the machine must maintain 140 PSI at 10 CFM.
Electrical System The automatic system is controlled by an Omron CPM1 PLC, control input signals come from proximity switches positioned throughout the machine. Output signals from PLC then go to 24 Volt DC air valves and control relays. The machine requires one input power supply, either 240 Volt 3 phase or 440 Volt 3 phase. Control circuit is transformed down to 110 Volt AC and 24 Volt DC. 30 Amp draw at 440 volt 3 phase, 55 Amp draw at 240 volt 3 phase
