JK1012 Single Head PVC Screen Slotting Machine

The JK1012 is very similar to the
JK1062 in appearance and function. Because the design
concept of the JK1062
worked so well, we decided to build a larger version that will
affectively handle PVC pipe sizes 1" up to 12".
Three major
modifications were designed into the JK1012 to increase the slotting capability:
1. Lower center pipe support designed
to be adjustable from 1" up to 12" PVC pipe size.
2. The automatic pipe
indexer is the same unit used on our JK1012D double head slotting
machine. This indexer is equipped
with a 1 3/4 hp air operated gear motor with increased
turning torques for the
larger pipes. The 1 1/4" drive shaft is built to accommodate our
expanding
inside pipe holding clamps.
3. Slotting motor plate was designed
to hold a 7.5 hp or 10 hp motor. The slotting saw
shaft is driven by a 2" H
timing belt. The driven pulley shaft is connected to the slotting
saw shaft with
a three jaw drive coupling. This system eliminates the need to loosen the
belt
drive when changing slotting saw shafts.

The Automatic Traveling Pipe
Indexer:
The indexer is used to rotate pipe
for the amount of slotted rows around pipe circumference.
It is also used to move pipe through machine after each segment of slots have
been cut on the pipe.
There are two settings on the
indexer, one is used for the amount of rows on the pipe circumference,
and the
second setting is used for the amount of travel (1" up to 12") for each segment of slots.
The
indexer can be set for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 14 rows of slots. The
pipe is held securely by
the expandable ID pipe holder which is mounted to the 1
1/4" indexer drive shaft shown in photo.

The expandable ID pipe holders are a
very fast and effective means of holding
the PVC pipe. Listed below are the three
pipe holders used to cover all sizes of
pipe this machine can be set up to slot.

Sequence of automatic operation at start of
slotting program:
 |
First cutter motor and 2 HP blower
motor turn on.
|
 |
STEP 1 pipe clamps on both sides of slotting motor assembly go
down to securely hold pipe
on center pipe support.
|
 |
Next, cutter motor
moves down to cut slots. At completion of total slot depth, reed switch
no. 2 on motor lift cylinder
signals controller causing cutter motor to move up. When motor
is in up position, reed switch 3 signals controller and clamps move up.
|
 |
At that point, the indexer rotates
pipe to the next preset row stop and automatic slotting
begins again with STEP 1.
|
 |
The time for the above sequence of
operation will vary from 3 to 6 seconds per segment
of 20 to 25 lots.
|
 |
When all the preset row slots have
been made around the pipe circumference, proximity
switch 5 on indexer will signal controller causing indexer to travel forward
pushing pipe
through machine and stopping at preset distance of 5" to 6". This distance
depends on
the amount of saws and spacing between them.
|
 |
The cycle then begins again at
STEP 1. The above sequence of operation continues
until the full length of pipe
is slotted and machine comes in contact with automatic shut off.
